(Joplin, MO) – Ready, aim, pull! It is time for the 8th Annual Clays for a Cause event benefitting Bill & Virginia Leffen Center for Autism. Pro-level and hunter-class shooters are all welcome to take part in the Sporting Clay Tournament held at Shawnee Skies Shooting Complex and Training Center in Wyandotte, Oklahoma. Teams and individual competitors are welcome at the event Saturday, October 9.
Registration is open and the entry fee is $90 through the day of the event. This fee includes lunch, a t-shirt, and 100 clays. Registration at the event lasts from 8:00 am – 9:00 am, followed by a safety meeting at 9:15 am. Shooting begins at 9:30 am. Participants are encouraged to bring their own ammunition as there will be a limited supply at the shooting complex.
Shawnee Skies Shooting Complex has all gravel roads for easy access to stations. Guests may walk paths or bring a golf cart or side-by-side if they wish to use one. All stations have solar-powered systems for power. Shawnee Skies Shooting Complex is accredited by the National Sporting Clay Association (NSCA).
The event also includes a raffle for a six-foot-by-six-foot Buck Palace Platinum 360° hunting blind and stand with a retail value of $3,600. Raffle entry tickets are 1 for $25 or 5 for $100. The drawing will take place at Clays for a Cause, but the winner does not have to be present to win. Proceeds benefit Leffen Center programs.
Net proceeds support Bill & Virginia Leffen Center for Autism. Like past events, this year’s Clays for a Cause will benefit scholarships and program development. One in 54 children has been diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. In 2014, it was one in 59. With the need for services increasing, organizers set a goal to raise $20,000 this year.
