COVID-19 Testing for Industry Security

(Jefferson City, MO) – Missouri’s citizens, businesses, and communities have all felt the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. As we pave the way toward economic recovery, it is important to remember that the health and safety of Missourians and the economic recovery of our state are two sides of the same coin.

Our economic recovery rests on the health care response, and critical to that response is our ability to spot outbreaks through broader testing.

In recent weeks, we’ve heard from many employers across the state about your efforts to keep your workers and customers safe.

We were incredibly encouraged by what we heard. Nearly 82% of businesses we’ve contacted have some form of screening procedures, and 75% have a plan in place in the event of an outbreak at their facility.

We also heard the concerns many businesses have about the negative attention that companies are receiving when an employee tests positive. We want to work with you and your communities to fight the stigma that’s developing around this disease.

For the health and safety of all Missourians, it’s essential we test to find symptomatic and asymptomatic cases, and stop an outbreak in its tracks.

To help employers navigate these challenges, the Show Me Strong website now contains a testing page which provides employers with resources to keep their workforce safe and healthy.
