Beginner’s Foraging: Confidence with the Basics
April 7 | 5:30 to 7:30 pm | For ages 13 and older | Free to attend | Wildcat Glades Education Cottage
This adult class will be led by Kelly Hock, who is well-versed in the foraging world an has an excellent knowledge of wild edibles. She will be presenting for those interested in beginning foraging and will focus specifically on spring edibles. Attendees will learn about a handful of local, edible plants and will have the opportunity to try some as well.

Yoga in Nature for Adults

Led by Amanda, a registered yoga teacher, this beginners’ yoga class is designed to incorporate elements of nature, breathing, and yoga poses. Bring your yoga mat, or a towel, and a reusable water bottle for this beginner’s class.

KCU Student Trail Workdays
April 8 | Every other Saturday | For KCU students only; closed group of volunteers | Wildcat Park
Students from Kansas City University – Joplin (KCU) group KCU Students for a Sustainable Future spend every other Saturday at Wildcat Park working on the trails. These future medical professionals have worked with Wildcat Glades volunteers to remove invasive plant species from the trails, remove graffiti off of various surfaces, cleaned up trash, and much more. They have become a staple force for the volunteers that keep Wildcat Park clean for everyone. We are grateful to be the recipients of their time and hard work!
Preschool Program: The Mixed-Up Chameleon

Butterflies are important in so many ways! They pollinate plans, their larva serve as important food sources for many animals, and they are simply beautiful to look at. Join us as we read a story called Butterfly Park and sing a fun song about butterflies. We will also make a special craft that will prove quite useful to butterflies. There will be something special for each child if they attend this event and then come back for the Earth & Arbor Day event on April 22!

Nature Explorers: Pollinator Power

Pollinators are “the little things that run the world.” Most would think of just bees as pollinators, but there are many interesting animals that help keep food on our plates! Join us to learn about the pollinators living right here in Missouri. We’ll spend some time outdoors looking for pollinators, so please dress appropriately.

Adult Program: Foraging with Bo Brown
April 19 @ 10:30 am to 12:00 pm | April 19 @ 2:30 to 5:00 pm | For adults | $10 to attend | Wildcat Glades Education Cottage
Bo Brown is renowned foraging expert and the writer of the popular Foraging the Ozarks field guide. He has been teaching primitive foraging skills since 1992 and has worked as a wildlife/avian field biologist since 1985. He was an Associate Director with the Ozark Center for Wildlife Research for its 15-year history, served as a naturalist for the Missouri Department on Conservation in Branson for nine years, and is still active in contract fieldwork.
He will be teaching this class over the basics of foraging, and participants will take on Wildcat Park’s trails to learn about some of the local edible plants.

May the Forest Be With You: Earth & Arbor Day Event
Saturday, April 22 | 10:00 am to 3:00 pm | All ages welcome | Wildcat Glades Park
Come to Wildcat Park and celebrate Earth Day! For this annual event, there will be a native tree giveaway sponsored by Liberty Utilities, a Native Plant Sale hosted by Forest Keeling Nursery, live music, food trucks, and numerous booths staffed by organizations from our community.
This event is a partnership between Wildcat Glades, Chert Glades Missouri Master Naturalists, the Missouri Department of Conservation, the City of Joplin, Joplin Parks & Recreation Department, and Liberty Utilities.
There is no need to register for the event, just head out to the park between 10:00 am and 3:00 pm to enjoy the festivities! If you have any questions, please send them to maddie@wildcatglades.org.
