(Joplin, MO) – Lafayette House is proud to announce a $10,000 award through the Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines’ (FHLB Des Moines) Member Impact Fund, made possible through the generous support and nomination of UMB Bank, National Association. The award will provide general operating support for Lafayette House’s continuum of services of individuals and families across southwest Missouri impacted by domestic violence, sexual assault, and substance use disorders.
The Member Impact Fund matches contributions from FHLB Des Moines member financial institutions up to three times their gift to eligible Missouri nonprofits. UMB Bank’s $2,500 contribution was matched with $7,500 from FHLB Des Moines, resulting in a total award of $10,000 to Lafayette House.
We are deeply grateful to UMB Bank for its continued partnership and for championing Lafayette House through this award,” said Eli Moran, Chief Strategy Officer at Lafayette House. “General operating support like this gives us the flexibility to meet urgent needs as they arise, from keeping our shelter doors open around the clock to sustaining the trained staff who respond to crises at any hour. This kind of investment strengthens every part of our mission.”
“UMB Bank has been an incredible partner to Lafayette House, and we’re so thankful they chose to advocate for our mission through this nomination,” said Chelsea Conley, Chief Development Officer at Lafayette House. “Awards like this one, made possible through the Member Impact Fund, allow us to keep our focus where it belongs: on the survivors and families who count on us for safety and support.”
Since 2023, the Member Impact Fund has delivered more than $106 million in grants across the FHLB Des Moines district, helping generate over $144 million in combined support for affordable housing and community development. In 2026 alone, nearly $25.9 million was awarded to 720 organizations across Missouri through the program.
Lafayette House serves approximately 900 individuals annually across a seven-county region in southwest Missouri, offering emergency shelter, crisis intervention, advocacy, counseling, substance use disorder treatment, and prevention education. The organization operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, ensuring professional help is always available when crisis strikes.
