(Joplin, MO) – Joplin Public Library announces that Patty Crane, longtime Reference Librarian, is retiring August 1, 2026. For nearly 30 years, Patty has served the Joplin community with dedication, knowledge and kindness. She has helped generations of library patrons find information, discover new interests and connect with library resources. Her commitment to public service and love of libraries have made a lasting impact on Joplin and the many people she has assisted throughout her career.
The Library will host a reception for the public to honor Patty’s service and wish her well in retirement. The reception will take place Friday, July 31, from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm, at the community room at the Library. Refreshments will be provided.
