Missouri Southern State University’s (MSSU) Community Engagement Committee invites the Joplin community to join campus staff in welcoming new students for the 2024 Fall Semester on Friday morning, August 16. Participants will form a human tunnel that will stretch from the pedestrian tunnel under Newman Road and across the parking lot to Taylor Performing Arts Center, where a welcome Pep Rally is planned.
First 20 participants will receive a green t-shirt to wear, but alternatively you can wear a shirt with your company’s logo. Those interested in participating should:
Park in the lot off of Newman Road.
Meet at the lower level of the parking lot on the university side of Newman Road near the tunnel.
Look for a Welcome to Joplin banner and a group in green t-shirts.
Join the green shirt group by 10:00
Enthusiastically welcome students to Joplin as they pass by.
Have fun!
Participants are also invited to join alumni for coffee with Dr. Van Galen, sponsored by the Alumni Office, before the Spirit Tunnel event. The coffee will be hosted inside the Ralph L Gray Alumni Center at 9:00. An rsvp is requested: 417-659-4070
