Downtown Joplin Alliance to Host Volunteer Expo Event

(Joplin, MO)Downtown Joplin Alliance will hold their Volunteer Expo event on Wednesday, February 28 at 5:30 pm at the Empire Market (931 E. 4th Street). This event is intended for existing volunteers and also for those who want to get involved with the downtown community but are not quite sure where to start.

Visitors will gather together at Empire Market to learn about the general structure of Downtown Joplin Alliance and all the ways that individuals can volunteer.

The format will include:

  • An introduction to Downtown Joplin Alliance (the mission, the strategies, the board, etc.)
  • An introduction to the Main Street Method and the Four Points (Economic Vitality, Design, Promotions, Organization).
  • An introduction to Empire Market programming.
  • Breakout tables
    • Explore all the programming options that Downtown Joplin Alliance offers, including Clean Team, Empire Market, Downtown Now, Third Thursday, Market Gardens, the Endangered Properties Program, WineShare, Joplin Arts Fest, Downtown Holiday Experience, Night Markets, and more!

Lori Haun, Executive Director of Downtown Joplin Alliance, states, “If you want to get involved in your downtown community, but aren’t quite sure where to start, then our Volunteer Expo is for you! Come join a group of like-minded people and learn how to use your skills to make Joplin a better place to be. This expo will be a low-stakes night for you to discover some of the programs that Downtown Joplin Alliance offers and how you can make them better. If you are a current volunteer, we want to challenge you to bring a friend to the expo to show them all the ways they can be involved!”
