(Joplin, MO) – For over 30 years, Duane and Holly Hukill have led Joplin Floor Designs (JFD) to great success serving the Joplin, Missouri region in retail and commercial flooring sales, installation, and more.
Joplin Floor Designs started as Hukill Furniture and Carpet in Seneca, Missouri, in 1962 by Denzil and Lillian Hukill. They ran the business until 1993, when their son, Duane Hukill, bought out the business and moved it to Joplin, renaming it Joplin Floor Designs. Holly Hukill joined the business in 1999. JFD celebrated its 30-year anniversary in May of this year.
When thinking about the future of the business, the Hukills searched diligently for the right team to carry the business into the future. Two local Joplin families stepped forward to partner in ownership: Samuel Wimsett and Christina Williams Wimsett, and Jerrod and Melissa Hogan.
The Wimsetts and Hogans assumed ownership on October 13, 2023. Samuel Wimsett is overseeing daily operations and working with Duane Hukill for the next several months to ensure a smooth transition. All staff are retained in employment as the most valued asset to the business. Customers, clients, and contractors can be assured Joplin Floor Designs will maintain its long-standing commitment to quality products and impeccable customer service.

A joint ribbon cutting of the Joplin Area Chamber of Commerce and Carl Junction Chamber of Commerce is planned to celebrate the new ownership on November 1, 2023, at 2:00 pm.

Samuel Wimsett and Christina Williams
Samuel owns and manages a portfolio of rental properties in southwest Missouri and Bentonville, Arkansas. He was recently the OEM Sales Manager for Cardinal Scales collaborating with internal and external engineering departments to develop custom products, and served in several other roles involving sales, R&D, and acquisitions. Samuel is now the President of Joplin Floor Designs and manages operations.
Christina brings over 20 years of experience in commercial interior design, marketing and brand development, and strategic community planning with a focus on public service. She is employed at Corner Greer & Associates, a Joplin-based architecture firm, as a project manager and designer. Christina’s role for JFD will be executive oversight, assisting with growth strategy and marketing, while providing industry insight for commercial interiors.
Samuel and Christina have two young children and enjoy many adventures together, including renovating houses and restoring native habitat at their Joplin homestead.
Jerrod and Melissa Hogan
Jerrod brings nearly 30 years of management and executive leadership experience. He is the CEO of OWN Engineering which employs 250 people and provides services nationwide. He is a serial entrepreneur and is dedicated to growing people, communities, and businesses. Jerrod’s role for JFD will be executive oversight and assisting with setting goals and strategy for growth, while providing valued industry connections.
Melissa owns and manages two Joplin-based companies and has a combined experience of 15 years of ownership and management in those businesses. She is an active community member and serves on the board of directors for local nonprofit organizations. Melissa’s role at JFD will be executive oversight and assisting with setting goals and strategy for growth, while providing assistance with operations and finance.
Jerrod and Melissa have three kids and have worked together as a great team for the past 20 years. They have started and own multiple businesses and real estate investments and thrive on business adventures that strengthen their Joplin community.
