Starting a Small Business: The First Steps

This workshop teaches participants essential concepts to consider before starting a small business. Participants will learn about the importance of discovering their target market and gain an appreciation of understanding their customers.

Participants will also learn about the steps in licensing and registering their business with federal, state, and local agencies. The basics of understanding cash flow projections and various funding alternatives will also be covered, as well as their importance.

Business Financials: Where Did All the Cash Go

Tuesday, April 11, 2023 | 10:30 to 11:45 am CDT | Free, virtual event 

This workshop will walk participants through a case study to help them identify sources and uses of cash and how this benefits a small business. Attendees will also learn the basic components of a cash flow statement.

Tips will be given on how to improve a company’s operating cycle and capital budgeting processes will also be discussed.

Southwest Regional Trade Seminar

Benchmarking Your Data

You know your business numbers, but do you understand those numbers and how to use that information to make informed decisions?

Participants in this workshop will learn what information is found on a company’s balance sheet and income statement, as well as how to compare their financial data to other similar firms within the same industry. We will also explore the importance of financial benchmarking and how financial data can help business owners and managers plan for success.

This workshop will utilize BitMiner, an analytical database that provides industry financial reports for over 30,000 banking professionals; hundreds of accounting, valuation, CRE and consulting firms; and universities. The database provides industry financial statements, ratios, and other industry statistics.
