Crowder College’s Technical Education Summer School Provides Real-World Experiences for Younger Students

(Neosho, MO) – The Crowder College Technical Education Center is hosting summer school for students entering grades sixth through eighth from Tuesday, May 30 to Friday, June 23 at the Dell Reed Technical Education Center on the Neosho campus. Students participating are from the school districts of Diamond, East Newton, Neosho, and Seneca.

“This hands-on learning environment provides insight into various careers that students could pursue in the future,” stated Nathan Fent, Director of Career and Technical Education. “We hope this inspires the younger students to look beyond familiar careers while also gaining some valuable skills.”

This year’s summer program will offer students choices of four, one-week programs in the follow subjects:

  • Agriculture
  • Computer Science
  • Construction
  • Health Science
  • Teacher Preparation

This program started several years ago and has been successful in recruiting summer school participants. This year’s summer school program has 125 students participating.
