KCU Student Trail Workdays

Every other Saturday | For KCU students only; closed group of volunteers | Wildcat Park

Students from Kansas City University – Joplin (KCU) group KCU Students for a Sustainable Future spend every other Saturday at Wildcat Park working on the trails. These future medical professionals have worked with Wildcat Glades volunteers to remove invasive plant species from the trails, remove graffiti off of various surfaces, cleaned up trash, and much more. They have become a staple force for the volunteers that keep Wildcat Park clean for everyone. We are grateful to be the recipients of their time and hard work!

Preschool Program: Hector the Misunderstood Snake

May 17 @ 10:00 to 11:00 am | May 20 @ 1:00 to 2:00 pm | For kids ages three to seven | Free class sponsored by Calvin Cassady | Wildcat Glades Education Cottage

No one on the farm likes Hector the snake — until he saves a baby chick!

Snakes are incredible animals, and yet, they are probably one of the most misunderstood animals in the animal kingdom. Join us to learn about the snakes we have in Missouri, and why they are a key species to have around. We will read a story, sing a song, and complete a craft that each child will take home. Children will also have the opportunity to see our resident snakes that we have in the cottage.

You must pre-register because is space is limited. Please do so by visiting our Facebook page, going to our Signup Genius page for this event, or by emailing maddie@wildcatglades.org.

Adult Program: Toad Abode – Attracting Natural Insect Zappers

May 22 @ 6:00 to 8:00 pm | For ages 13+ | $10 to attend | Wildcat Glades Education Cottage

Whether you find toads adorable (which is the side of the fence that we stand firmly on), or not-so-adorable, they are very useful in your yards! Toads can eat up to 1,000 insects in a day. We will host a class on making your own toad abode (home) to attract these little insect-devourers to your own yard! Offering shelter for these small but important amphibians is just a small token of appreciation that you can offer for their hard work.

The space in this class is limited, so be sure to sign up quickly. You can register by visiting our Signup Genius page or by emailing robin@wildcatglades.org.

Nature Explorers: Frog Friends and Toad Abodes

May 24 @ 10:00 to 11:00 am| May 27 @ 1:00 to 2:00 pm | For kids ages seven to 14 | Free class sponsored by the Corley Foundation | Wildcat Glades Education Cottage

Frogs and toads are neat little critters that are more often seen than heard. For this Nature Explorers program, we will learn all about the frogs and toads of Missouri. Kids will gain knowledge of some of the frog and toad calls we may be hearing in may as well as some visual identification skills.

We will also make toad house that families can take home to attract toads to their own backyards!

You must pre-register on our Signup GeniusFacebook page or by emailing maddie@wildcatglades.org.
