Wildcat Glades Friends Group Releases January 2023 Program List

This coming January, the Wildcat Glades Friends Group, along with other partners, will be hosting a few preschool connections programs, a Nature Explorers program, and several Yoga in Nature classes. Sign up for one below!

First Day Hike

January 1 | 10:00 to 11:00 am | All ages welcome | Hike begins at the Wildcat Glades Education Cottage

We will ring in the new year by spending the morning out on the trails! We will walk on an even loop and discuss the natural events in nature. Bring your binoculars, walking sticks, a warm coat, good walking shoes, and, of course, a hat and gloves! Yoga in Nature for Adults

January 14 | 8:30 to 9:30 am | For ages 12 and older | Wildcat Glades Education Cottage

Led by Amanda, a registered yoga teacher, this beginners’ yoga class is designed to incorporate elements of nature, breathing, and yoga poses. Bring your yoga mat or a towel and a reusable water bottle for this beginner’s class.

Yoga in Nature for Kids

January 14 | 10:30 am | For ages 4 and older, accompanied by an adult | Wildcat Glades Education Cottage

Led by Amanda, a registered yoga teacher, this class is designed to incorporate elements of nature, breathing, and yoga poses specifically for kids. Bring your yoga mat or a towel and a reusable water bottle for this beginner’s class. Yoga is a beneficial exercise for children’s health and even better when it can be done outdoors.

Preschool Program: Snowy Nap

January 18 @ 10:00 to 11:00 am | January 21 @ 1:00 to 2:00 pm | For kids ages three to seven | Free class sponsored by Calvin Cassady | Wildcat Glades Education Cottage

We love the winter birds who come to our feeders! Join us for a story as we learn to identify some birds and make birdfeeders for our yards.

Adult Program: What Are Animals Up to in Winter

January 27 @ 6:00 pm | Ages 13 and up | Wildcat Glades Education Cottage

While there may not seem like there’s a lot of activity in the winter, animals are busy trying to survive some of the coldest temperatures of the year. Join us to learn about what survival skills animals use to cope with the cold temperatures as well as where they spend their time in the winter.

Nature Explorers

January 28 @ 10:00 am to 2:00 pm | For kids ages seven to 14 | Free class sponsored by Calvin Cassady | Wildcat Glades Education Cottage

Winter is a great time to get out on the trails and begin birding! Join us to learn the basics of identifying birds both on the trail and in your own backyard. This event will feature a walk along the trails, so please dress accordingly. We will provide binoculars.
