Thanksgiving Holiday Closes City Offices, Alters Residential Trash Schedule

(Joplin, MO) – In recognition of the Thanksgiving holiday, the City of Joplin offices will be closed on Thursday, November 25 and Friday, November 26.  This closing includes the Joplin Recycling Center, MAPS and the Sunshine Lamp Trolley services.  The Recycling Center will also be closed on Saturday, November 27, but will be open on Monday, November 29,  a day that it is usually closed.

City Hall and other City services will reopen to the public at 8 a.m. on Monday, November 29. MAPS and the Sunshine Lamp Trolley services will resume services on Monday, November 29.

Public Safety services (Police and Fire Departments), Joplin Regional Airport and Wastewater Division will continue to operate throughout the Thanksgiving holidays, as these departments run 24/7 throughout the year.

Joplin citizens are reminded that residential trash and curbside recycling will NOT be picked up on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 25.  Customers who usually have trash/recycling picked up on Thursdays will have their trash/recycling picked up on Friday, November 26. Friday customers will have their trash/recycling picked up on Saturday, November 27.
