Community Blood Center of the Ozarks Urges Donations Following Winter Weather

More Than 600 Blood Donations Missed Due to Weather Closures — Blood Donors Needed to Rebuild Supply

(Joplin, MO) –  Community Blood Center of the Ozarks (CBCO), the exclusive supplier of blood, platelets, and plasma to patients at 45 area health care facilities, warns that the recent winter weather has put a strain on the local blood supply.

“Winter weather has taken a serious toll on our blood supply, with more than 600 donations unable to be collected due to center closures and drive cancellations,” said Michelle Teter, CBCO Media Relations Representative. “Now that the storms have passed, we need our community to rally and help restock hospital shelves. O-negative, A-negative, and O-positive blood types are in especially high demand. If the roads are safe for you to travel, we urge all Winter Weather Warriors to roll up a sleeve and donate. Every donation makes a lifesaving difference for patients in need.”
