(Joplin, MO) – James River Church Joplin is partnering with Community Blood Center of the Ozarks (CBCO) to host a community blood drive on Saturday, January 25. CBCO is the sole supplier of blood, platelets, and plasma to 45 area healthcare facilities and the need for donors is ongoing.
The “Saturday Serve” blood drive is scheduled for Saturday, January 25, beginning at 7:00 am in the Atrium at James River Church, located at 1850 S. Maiden Lane, Joplin.
“Saturday Serve” at James River Church is a community outreach initiative where church members come together to volunteer and meet various needs across Southwest Missouri. Held on select Saturdays, this large-scale event focuses on making a meaningful impact by providing support and resources to those in need. The Saturday Serve Blood Drive at James River Church exemplifies this mission, offering an opportunity for members and the community to save lives through blood donation, with the potential to impact thousands of patients in local hospitals.
“CBCO is excited to partner with James River Church to help rally Ozark and the surrounding community to help support local patients, “ said Michelle Teter, Media Relations Representative at CBCO. “We are still recovering from the blood donations lost from winter weather cancellations earlier this month, so the timing of this event will play a key role in rebuilding our blood supply for our friends, family and neighbors.”
Successful donors will enjoy a complimentary breakfast. Donors will also receive a cozy CBCO hoodie, while supplies last. Additionally, donors can register to participate in the “56-Day Challenge,” with a chance to win up to $56,000.00 in VISA gift cards, generously sponsored by the Adam Swenka Team at Flat Branch Home Loans and The Giving Branch.
Donors must be:
- At least 16 years old (16-year-olds will need parental consent)
- Weight at least 110 pounds
- Be in good health
- Have not donated in the past 56 days
Photo identification is required, and donors are encouraged to eat well and stay hydrated before donating. To reduce wait times, appointments are strongly recommended. Donors can schedule an appointment here.
One donation can help save the lives of up to three people right here in the Ozarks. Roll up your sleeve and give the gift of life to your community!
