(Joplin, MO) – The Jobs for America’s Graduates (JAG) program at the Roi S. Wood campus of Joplin High School has earned a perfect 4.0 grade, scoring all ‘Excellent’ designations on the 2026 Mid-Term Compliance Report.
This report is designed to ensure alignment with JAG national and state expectations. It reflects progress in key areas including performance outcomes, student enrollment and caseload expectations, data accuracy and timely reporting, Career Association participation and event attendance, program operations and advisory board activities.
Joplin JAG, overseen by district educator specialist Janet Parker-Spain since 2021, scored at the highest level in each category, affirming strong performance and student impact by consistently exceeding compliance expectations with complete documentation and full program
implementation.
Parker-Spain was also named Southwest Region Outstanding Specialist for the 2025-26 school year. She was given the award at the JAG State Training Seminar earlier this month. JAG-Missouri Program Director Chance Cornell said, “Janet Parker-Spain truly embodies the spirit of the Southwest Outstanding Specialist through her unwavering dedication, compassion, and commitment to student success. At the heart of her work is an incredible passion for her students. Her genuine care is seen in the intentional opportunities she creates to help students grow both personally and professionally.”
““These recognitions are reflections of the exceptional work taking place every day at Roi S. Wood and the tireless commitment Janet has to our students,” said JHS Principal Dr. Randy Oliver. “Earning a perfect 4.0 compliance score and having Ms. Parker-Spain recognized as the Southwest Region Outstanding Specialist speaks to the quality of the JAG program and its life-changing impact. Through meaningful relationships, career exploration, and individualized support, our students are gaining the confidence and skills they need to graduate and thrive in
whatever path they choose.”
JAG’s mission is to keep students in school through graduation and provide work-based learning experiences that will lead to career advancement opportunities or to enrollment in post-secondary education.
