Joplin Public Library to Host Annual Black History Fair on February 7

(Joplin, MO)The Joplin Public Library is excited to host its annual Black History Fair on Saturday, February 7 from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm. The fair will take place in the Library’s Community Room and is open to all ages.

The focus on this year’s program is community organizations and members doing important work in Joplin’s African American community. Attendees will hear several short presentations from participating organizations throughout the event. Plus, they can visit interactive displays and booths from the Library, community members, and local organizations.

Participating organizations include George Washington Carver National Monument, EastTown Dreams District, Joplin NAACP, the Minnie Hackney Community Center, and more. Connect with your community, hear from members and organizations in Joplin, and learn about Black history, present, and future in Joplin and beyond.

“The Library is happy to host this annual event focused on honoring the past, celebrating the present, and inspiring the future,” said Library Director Jeana Gockley.

The event is free and open to the public, no Library card required. All ages are welcome to attend.
