(Neosho, MO) – Crowder College athletic department is pleased to announced its new head softball coach, Drew Osborne. He will replace former coach, Josh Barnes.
“I’m very excited to join Crowder College”, stated Osborne. “Crowder College softball has a strong tradition and I’m looking forward to continuing that trend. Working at Crowder is an incredible opportunity to work with student-athletes as they pursue their dreams. I’m blessed to be able to guide them along that path”.
Osborne’s previous experience included nine years at Grove High School where he worked with the softball and baseball programs. During his time at Grove they made five appearances in the state tournaments for baseball and softball. His time at Grove also boasted two academic state champions and one runner-up.
“His coaching experience and connections, positive attitude and hardworking nature made him the perfect fit for our softball program,” stated Brandi Arthur, Athletic Director. “I look forward to watching him continue the winning tradition of Crowder Softball.
Prior to Grove, Osborne coached at Neosho High School for three years, El Dorado Springs High School for three years, and Weaubleau High School for two years.
Osborne served as an assistant coach at Southwest Baptist University and worked with pitchers in 2006-07. He worked at Mac-N-Seitz Baseball and Softball Academy as an instructor and facility manager from 2005-06.
He played college baseball at Southwest Baptist University, where he graduated with a degree in Sports Management in 2005. He completed his Masters in Education in 2014. Osborne graduated valedictorian from Wellington-Napoleon High School in 2001.
Osborne married Gwyn Smith former SBU basketball player in 2006. She still holds the career rebound record. They reside in Neosho with their two children, Lydia (14) and Luke (12).
