Crowder College Nevada Adjunct Instructor Retires After Devoting Life to Education

(Nevada, MO) – After an illustrious career spanning 62 years in higher education, Dr. Rosemary Fowler, a trailblazer in the field of Chemistry and beloved adjunct instructor at Crowder College, has retired. Her tenure at Crowder College marks the culmination of a distinguished journey that began at Texas Women’s University and included significant roles at institutions such as Cottey College, where she spent 33 years, and Crowder College, where she served for 13 years. She was also a Department Chair for four years at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor and worked at Cameron University for five years.

As a Lifetime Member of the Missouri Academy of Science, Dr. Fowler’s impact on the academic community is immeasurable. Throughout her career, she has been a dedicated educator, mentor, and inspiration to countless students and colleagues. Her contributions to Chemistry education and her pioneering spirit as a woman in STEM have left an indelible mark on the institutions and individuals she has served.

Among her many achievements, Dr. Fowler is particularly proud of her longstanding membership in the American Chemistry Society, spanning over six decades, and her recognition as the 1992 recipient of the Governor’s Excellence in Teaching Award.

“We are deeply grateful for Dr. Fowler’s unwavering dedication to academic excellence and her profound impact on the lives of so many students,” said Dr. Paul Schlag, Associate Vice President of Academic Affairs at Crowder College. “Her legacy will continue to inspire future generations of scholars and educators.”

Monte Padgett, the Director of the Nevada Instructional Center concluded, “We are profoundly grateful for Dr. Fowler’s exceptional contributions to our academic community. Her passion for teaching and her dedication to student success have set a standard of excellence that will endure long after her retirement. Crowder College has been privileged to have Dr. Fowler as part of our family, and we wish her the very best in this next chapter of her life.”

Fellow instructor, Jennifer Schnedler commented, “She’s dedicated her life to teaching and we were fortunate to have her for so many years at Crowder.”
