Join Missouri Southern State University (MSSU) in collaboration with local health care providers for the Willcoxon Innovation in Health Sciences Summit on Thursday, April 11 and Friday, April 12.
This two-day event is an enlightening summit dedicated to the future of health care. From 3D printed devices to immunotherapy, next-generation sequencing, and biosensors and trackers, the Summit will enlighten current and future health care workers, as well as the public, about the future of health care.

Thursday, April 11, 2024
- 1:00 pm – Groundbreaking for the Roy Blunt Health Science Innovation Center on the MSSU Oval.
- 2:00 pm – Willcoxon Innovation in Health Sciences Summit Kick Off Presentation by Senator Roy Blunt, “Stories of Health and Higher Education Innovation” at Taylor Performing Arts Center.
Friday, April 12, 2024
- 7:30 am – Registration, check-in, and breakfast in the lobby of Taylor Performing Arts Center
- 8:30 am – Presentation by Keynote Speaker Dr. Christa Martin on the future of health care in Taylor Performing Arts Center
- 9:50 am – Break
- 10:00 am – Session 1: Future Delivery of Health Care with Dr. Catherine Satterwhite, Executive Director for the Center for Population Health and Equity (CPHE) at Kansas City University and Dr. Robert McNab, Vice President of Medical Education at Freeman Health System (Q&A will be available at the end of the session).
- 11:10 am – Break
- 11:20 am – Session 2: Advances in Technology and Therapy (Q&A will be available at the end of the session).
- 12:00 pm – Lunch in Young Gymnasium
- 1:30 pm – Session 3: Envisioning the Future of Health Care in the Four State Region: Perspective from Major Health Providers (moderated panel). Representatives from Mercy Hospital Joplin and Freeman Health System will answer questions about the future of health care in the region.
- 2:30 pm – Closing remarks and details about the 2025 Willcoxon Innovation in Health Sciences Summit.
