Missouri Southern State University to Host Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration on January 15

(Joplin, MO) – The 24th annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. celebration is set for 6:00 pm on Monday, January 15 in the Ron Richard Athletic Center (formerly the North End Zone Facility) at Missouri Southern State University (MSSU).

The theme for the event will be “Living the Dream: It Starts with Me — Spreading Hope, Courage, and Unity.” The keynote speaker will be Dr. Richard Pearson, the Chief of Police with the Joplin Police Department.

The celebration will begin with a social hour at 6:00 pm, where light horse d’oeuvres will be served, followed by the program at 7:00 pm It will include a performance by the marimba band Kufara.

The event is free and open to the public.
