Crowder College’s AEL Director Juli DeNisco Appointed as Secretary to Worldwide Coalition Board

(Joplin, MO) – Congratulations to Juli DeNisco, recently appointed to the position of the board secretary at the Coalition on Adult Basic Education (COABE), the largest adult education association in the world. COABE’s mission is to inspire educators so adults succeed and communities thrive. COABE exists to provide leadership, communication, professional development, and advocacy for adult education and literacy practitioners to advance quality services for all adult learners.

Sharon Bonney, the chief executive officer of COABE, states, “Juli DeNisco is a passionate, seasoned leader for the field of adult education. We applaud her work identifying the barriers that adult learners face and tirelessly advocating to create pathways to success. Juli’s storied career embodies empowering learners and elevating communities through adult education.”

Currently the AEL director at the Crowder College Adult Education and Literacy (AEL) program, Juli has served in the field of adult education for almost 25 years. Before becoming the director, Juli worked 13 years as an AEL instructor. Her role involved providing AEL, English Language Learning (ELL), and Integrated Education and Training (IET) classes.

“Because of my passion for providing access to education, I am compelled to constantly learn the barriers to success for the populations in my region. Once these needs are identified, I work quickly to remove the barriers with innovative plans and partnerships, creating unconventional pathways to educational accomplishment,” says DeNisco, who has maintained active board involvement with state organizations such as MAACCE since 2013.

COABE represents the Adult Education system of more than 79,000 adult educators and provides a variety of services, including professional development through annual, state-of-the-art national conferences, more than 50 webinars annually, advocacy and communication, and a peer-reviewed journal.
