(Joplin, MO) – Joplin Public Library is proud to partner with Chaos Brewing Company to host its two summer Book Swap events. The first will take place on Saturday, June 24 and the second on Saturday, July 29. Both events are come-and-go style, starting at 2:00 pm and ending at 3:00 pm.
Book Swap is an outreach program facilitated by Joplin Public Library, where participants are encouraged to bring a book they no longer want from their personal collection and swap it for a book that’s new to them. Books to choose from are a combination of those provided by the Library and those brought by other participants. The event offers the opportunity to chat with fellow readers and get a new book (or two)!
Partnership is a defining element of each Book Swap event, with the Library working with local business owners in the community to make the event possible. Hosts of previous Book Swaps include Joplin Avenue Coffee Company, Bookhouse Cinema, Pineapple Bliss, and Coley’s Cookies.
“This is one of my favorite programs to host because I enjoy learning what others in the community are reading, and what books they recommend, and seeing reading celebrated in this way,” said Sarah Turner-Hill, the adult programming coordinator for the Joplin Public Library. “The support received from our business co-hosts is greatly appreciated.”
To participate in the program, interested individuals should bring a book to Chaos Brewing Company, located at 112 S. Main Street in Joplin on either of the dates listed above. The event is for adults ages 18 and older. There is no fee or registration necessary.
