City of Joplin’s Resurfacing Program to Begin in Northeast Joplin on June 12

(Joplin, MO) – As part of the City of Joplin’s yearly road resurfacing program, Vance Brothers, the City’s contractor, is to begin micro-surfacing selected city streets this week. Residents that are affected will receive a notification in the form of a door hanger two days in advance of the work occurring on their street.

Work will be going on for a few weeks and the work is occurring in the general area of northeast Joplin, between Range Line Road and St. Louis Avenue north of 7th Street. Work is beginning this week in Royal Heights and the area north of Zora Street. A map of the affected streets can be viewed here.

The City encourages residents to please plan trips accordingly and/or move their vehicles prior to the micro-surfacing, as it will not be possible to get out by vehicle in the chance they are in front of your driveway.

The micro-surfacing treatment is a thin layer of aggregate and oil that cures onto the road surface to provide a new wearing course. This will help seal minor cracks and increase the longevity of the road. The micro-surfacing treatment is similar to a slurry seal but cures faster allowing traffic to return much quicker.

Thank you for your patience during this process.
