(Joplin, MO) – The Downtown Joplin Alliance and the Joplin Area Chamber of Commerce’s Equity, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI) work group are partnering for the You Belong in Joplin Celebration during Third Thursday on June 15! This annual recognition of the adoption of the City of Joplin’s EDI Proclamation in 2020 will feature dynamic live musical performances, an interactive community art piece, and a You Belong walk, all of which are designed to bring folks together.
The evenings other events include:
- Live music from Dalia Neale and Riverside Current on the You Belong stage, located at 6th and Main Streets.
- You Belong Walk, which starts at 6:00 pm at 2nd and Main Streets and ends at the stage at 6th and Main Streets.
- Remarks from Mayor Pro Tem Keenan Cortez, former mayor Melodee Colbert-Keane, and representatives from Missouri American Water and Downstream Casino Resort.
- Interactive mural at 6th and Main Streets.
- Patio and on-street dining.
- Vintage car cruise on the 100 block of Main Street.
- Artisan market on the 500 block of Main Street.
- Free COVID-19 vaccines and bivalent booster shots provided by the City of Joplin’s Health Department will be available inside of City Hall.
- Self photo booth provided by Hip Hip Array.
- Over 100 vendors, including over 30 food and beverage options.
Lori Haun, executive director of the Downtown Joplin Alliance, states, “The You Belong Celebration is a great opportunity for the community to come together and celebrate the ways that we are different as well as the ways that we are alike.”
