Joplin, MO – December 19, 2022, Community Blood Center of the Ozarks (CBCO), the sole supplier of blood, platelets, and plasma to patients at 44 area healthcare facilities, is asking all eligible blood donors to give ahead of the holidays during the 28th annual Miracle of Giving Blood Drive. The blood drive will be held on two critical days – December 23 and December 30 – at all CBCO donor centers throughout the region.
Successful donors will receive a long-sleeve T-shirt, a “Miracle of Giving” campfire mug and a $10.00 Casey’s gas gift card. In addition, participants will also be automatically entered to win a $1000.00 gas gift card to help fuel holiday travels, courtesy of Youngblood Auto Group.
During the holidays, blood donation rates can fall short of local hospital needs. “Taking the time to donate blood before the holidays can mean so much to a sick or injured area hospital patient,” CBCO Media Relations Representative Michelle Teter said. “The miracle of the holiday season lies in the gifts we give to others. Donate blood and give the gift of life. It is a gift that will last well beyond the holidays.”
The Miracle of Giving holiday blood drive is only available at Community Blood Center of the Ozarks Donor Centers. All CBCO donor centers will be closed on December 24 and 31, except for the Springfield Donor Center, which is open for apheresis donation by appointment only.
On behalf of local hospital patients, CBCO thanks blood donors from across the region for giving life to your community.
To help avoid wait times, appointments are strongly encouraged. Donors can schedule an appointment at https://www.cbco.org/miracle/.
