The Missouri Small Business Development Center (SBDC) hosted at Missouri Southern State University (MSSU) will be holding several trainings throughout this month. Sign up for one today!

The Nanette Philibert Business of Art Symposium

Wednesday, November 2 | 10:00 am to 2:00 pm CDT | Free event

This annual professional development event highlights resources, issues, and practical concerns that artists and other creatives need to navigate as they develop and maintain their professional practice.

Participants have the opportunity to hear from regional art professionals as they discuss opportunities and challenges on the business side of their profession.

MSSU design students will also have an opportunity to participate in a separate breakout portfolio review session.

Starting a Small Business: The First Steps

This workshop teaches participants essential concepts to consider before starting a small business. Participants will learn about the importance of discovering their target market and gain an appreciation of understanding their customers.

Participants will also learn about the steps in licensing and registering their business with federal, state, and local agencies. The basics of understanding cash flow projections and various funding alternatives will also be covered, as well as their importance.

Building a Business Plan

You have a business idea — now what? This workshop will introduce participants to the importance of writing a business plan. The various components of a business plan will be reviewed as well as how to use the plan to attract funding and as a business management tool.

QuickBooks Desktop: Utilization, Tips, and Tricks

2022 Veteran Business Resources
