1 Million Cups Joplin Visits Carthage

(Joplin, MO) – 1 Million Cups Joplin, which normally meets weekly at the Advanced Training & Technology Center (420 S. Grand Avenue, Joplin) is taking a road trip! For the August 24 event, attendees are heading to Carthage for a special Road Trip Edition of 1 Million Cups Joplin.

The event is in partnership with the Carthage Chamber of Commerce, and will be held at the Carthage Public Library’s Steadley Family Legacy Center (612 S Garrison, Carthage). Coffee and Connections, which is being sponsored by the Library, will start at 8:30 am, followed by two presenters who will share about their businesses at 9:00 am.

Both presenters operate businesses out of Carthage. Carthage Olive Oil Company provides the opportunity to sample and purchase over 65 premium extra virgin olive oil and balsamic vinegars. Ceri Otero, the company’s owner, uses her knowledge and experience to help the shop’s visitors find exactly what they need through customized recommendations.

Pennington Wines produces uncomplicated and elegant local varieties of wine. Owner Andrew Pennington is passionate about the art of winemaking, and not only offers onsite tastings, but sources his locally bottled wines to restaurants and businesses in the area. Each presentation will last eight minutes and will be followed by 20 minutes of feedback and Q&A with the audience.

“The Carthage Chamber of Commerce is very excited to host in Carl Junction,” said Julie Reams, president of the Carthage Chamber of Commerce.  “This is a wonderful opportunity to bring 1 Million Cup attendees to Carthage, but also to feature two Carthage entrepreneurs and let them showcase their businesses.”
