Starting a Small Business: The First Steps

This workshop teaches participants essential concepts to consider before starting a small business. Participants will learn about the importance of discovering their target market and gain an appreciation of understanding their customers.

Participants will also learn about the steps in licensing and registering their business with federal, state, and local agencies. The basics of understanding cash flow projections and various funding alternatives will also be covered, as well as their importance.

QuickBooks Desktop: Utilization, Tips, and Tricks

This virtual training will consist of a QuickBooks Desktop demonstration with emphasis on the program’s features and best practices when using it. This training is a free, one-hour training that will be hosted via Zoom.

Introduction to Government Contracting — Should I Even Consider This Market?

Allen Waldo, Procurement Counselor with the Missouri Procurement Technical Assistance Center (MO PTAC), works with small businesses that currently fulfill government contracts as well as small businesses that are interested in learning more about government contracting.

Mr. Waldo will be covering information about selling to the government, getting the right registrations (such as SAM) and certifications, and the advantages and disadvantages of government contracting. There will also be a time for questions at the end of the program.
