Joplin Citizens Invite to Open House on Thursday, March 3 to Review New Zoning Codes

(Joplin, MO) – The City of Joplin and consultants from Gould Evans will host a Public Meeting at 4:00 pm on Thursday, March 3 to discuss a proposed update to the City’s zoning code. The meeting will be held in the East Community Room at the Joplin Public Library.

City officials and Gould Evans members will provide exhibits about the proposed update to Joplin’s zoning code, which was last updated in 2004. Citizens are encouraged to attend to learn more about the proposal and visit with City staff and consultants to address any questions or concerns.

Zoning codes outline regulations defining appropriate use of properties within specific geographic areas, such as a commercial or residential zones. Zoning ordinances may also regulate other standards, such as lot size, placement, density, or height of structures. These codes are beneficial in the planning and development of a city.
