(Joplin, MO) – Freeman Health System held a ribbon cutting on Wednesday, March 17 for Freeman Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine MRI Service. The high-resolution imaging facility is now operating in Pittsburg, Kansas to fill the void left with the closings of rural hospitals and clinics.
“As the area’s leader in healthcare, Freeman serves people from all corners of the four-state area,” said Freeman President and Chief Executive Officer Paula Baker. “We’re honored to have that privilege and responsibility here in southeast Kansas. We understand that traveling to Joplin for medical appointments can sometimes be difficult or burdensome. This is why we’re offering MRI services in Pittsburg. Our highly certified and trained radiation technologists always put patients first, offering the expert and compassionate care everyone has come to expect from Freeman.”
“The MRI Coach, a mobile MRI trailer, currently operates two days a week but is seeing great demand, conducting more than 100 scans after recently opening,” said Freeman Director of Orthopaedic Services Mic Ward. “Freeman MRI Service is already receiving referrals from fourteen area physicians needing imaging for orthopaedic injuries, as well as workers’ compensation cases, abdominal issues, liver exams, neurologic injuries, and more.”
Freeman MRI Service is located at 100 N. Pine Street in Pittsburg. For scheduling information, you can call 417.347.6868.
