City of Joplin to Host Ribbon Cutting on October 23 to Celebrate the Reopening of West 20th Street After Widening Project

The City of Joplin is excited to announce the reopening of West 20th Street following a major Public Works project that widened and significantly improved the roadway.

The community is invited to join the City officials and residents as they celebrate this accomplishment on Friday, October 23 with a ribbon cutting ceremony that will begin at 10:00 am near the main entrance of Twin Hills Country Club, located at 2019 S. Country Club Drive in Joplin.

Work on this two-mile stretch of 20th Street goes from Schifferdecker Road to Central City Road.

Emery Sapp and Sons, Inc. was the contractor for this $9.8 million project. Funding was through the Capital Improvement Sales Tax initiative passed in 2014 and renewed by voters in 2024, and is partially funded through the City, Jasper County, ARPA (American Rescue Plan Act), and Joplin Special Road District.
