(Joplin, MO) – Soroptimist International of Joplin will host their annual Camp Soroptimist July 20 – 24, 2026
Camp Soroptimist is an annual week-long overnight camp experience for Jasper County foster children (ages eight–15) hosted by Soroptimist International of Joplin in partnership with Jasper County Division of Youth Services.
This year’s camp theme is “Out of this World!”
Camp Co-Chair Courtney Barnard says, “Every year, Camp Soroptimist reminds me just how powerful a caring community can be. Seeing our members and volunteers pour their hearts into giving these 50 foster kids an unforgettable week is inspiring, and I’m proud to be a part of something that makes such a lasting impact.”
Camp Soroptimist was first established in the summer of 1984, when members of Soroptimist International of Joplin and staff from the Jasper County Division of Family Services/Children’s Division joined forces to create a recreational retreat for foster children in Jasper County. This annual summer camp remains one of Soroptimist International of Joplin’s largest service projects.
The camp is funded entirely by the Joplin club’s community initiatives, such as their spring “Comedy for Camp & S’more” event and fall nut sales.
Soroptimist International of Joplin is part of Soroptimist International of the Americas, a global volunteer organization that provides women and girls with access to the education and training they need to achieve economic empowerment. Soroptimist, a 501(c)(3) organization that relies on charitable donations to support its programs, also powers LiveYourDream.org — an online community offering offline volunteer opportunities in support of women and girls.
