Pro Musica and Connect2Culture Present Schumann String Quartet and Pianist Jon Nakamatsu

(Joplin, MO)Pro Musica and Connect2Culture will jointly present the Schumann String Quartett and pianist Jon Nakamatsu in concert on Tuesday, November 15 at 7:30 pm in the Beshore Performance Hall at the Harry M. Cornell Arts and Entertainment Complex (212 W. 7th St., Joplin, MO 64801).

This exciting program includes works for string quartet and piano quintet (piano + string quartet). Beethoven’s String Quartet in C Minor, Op. 18, No. 4, showcases the composer at both his most dramatic and his most lighthearted. Fritz Kreisler’s String Quartet in A Minor brings passion, virtuosity, and lyricism to the fore. The string quartet will be joined by Van Cliburn-winning pianist Jon Nakamatsu to perform a perennial favorite, Schumann’s Piano Quintet in E-flat Major, Op. 44, known for its songful melodies and exuberant interchange between the musical voices.

“We can’t wait to welcome these fabulous artists to Joplin for an evening of passionate, dramatic, and engaging chamber music and celebrate our first concert at the Cornell Complex” says Pro Musica Executive Director Emlyn Johnson. Connect2Culture Executive Director Emily Frankoski notes, “This performance is a perfect way to showcase the beautifully refurbished 1949 Steinway piano in our extraordinary new performance hall.”

With limited capacity in the Beshore Performance Hall, the presenters encourage patrons to make a free online reservation in advance of the concert to save their seat at the following Google Form link.

Patrons may also call Pro Musica at 417.625.1822 to make their free advance reservation. Pre-registered patrons will have first priority for seating, and additional seating will be available on a first come, first served basis.
