Urban Art Gallery is excited to announce the return of First Thursday ArtWalk on July 2, 2026!
This month, they will be hosting painter Shelly Blankenship-Newly and her impressionist body of work, “The Art of Creating.” Also featured will be work from Linda Teeter and Marta Churchwell with Music by Tough Luck Chuck.
As ArtWalk’s season begins, organizers invite the community to join them for free scavenger hunts where participants look for, find, and keep a free piece of art left at one of six different art venues, which include:
- Harry M. Cornell Arts & Entertainment Complex (212 W. 7th Street)
- Joplin Avenue Coffee Company (506 S. Joplin Avenue)
- Urban Art Gallery (511 S. Main Street)
- 528 Pop-Up Gallery (528 S. Main Street)
- Vino Noir (530 S. Main Street)
- Club 609 (609 S. Main Street)
A selected artist plants the artwork, takes a photo, and shares a clue on social media for the community to use to find the piece. When participants find it, they can either “love it or leave it” and post a photo on social media to show that they discovered the item.
