Missouri Southern State University (MSSU) will host its annual Student Research Symposium on April 22, showcasing innovative student research and creative scholarship from across academic disciplines.
The public event will take place in person and is open to community members at no cost. Poster presentations will be available for viewing from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm, with judging occurring earlier in the day and an awards ceremony to follow.
The Student Research Symposium provides a platform for MSSU students to present faculty-guided research and creative projects developed through coursework, internships, and independent study. Participants represent a wide range of disciplines, highlighting the university’s commitment to academic excellence and experiential learning.
Students will present their work in poster format across seven categories, including Business, Engineering & Technology; Education; Graduate Studies; Health Sciences; Humanities; Physical and Biological Sciences; and Social Sciences. Projects may include literature reviews, business plans, scientific investigations, statistical analyses, and theoretical research.
“Each year we have more and more participants, which is very exciting for our campus. These students are very talented, and their research projects and ideas are inspiring to learn about,” said Dr. Betsy Adelizzi, Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice and event organizer.
Awards will be presented to first- and second-place winners in each category, along with a top honor for Best Overall Poster.
