JATSO To Host Open House on September 4 to Gather Feedback for Metropolitan Transportation Plan

The Joplin Area Transportation Study Organization (JATSO) will host an in-person open house to share findings and gather feedback for updates to its Metropolitan Transportation Plan (MTP). Attendees will have the opportunity to review proposed updates and maps, ask questions, and provide input directly to project staff.

Public feedback will help shape final recommendations and ensure the plan reflects the needs and priorities of the region, including Joplin, Webb City, Carl Junction, Oronogo, Duenweg, and Duquesne.

In-Person Open House

  • Located at Joplin Public Library’s Community Room East (1901 E. 20th Street)

“We encourage everyone to participate in this important planning process,” said Robert Lolley, Transportation Planner at the City of Joplin and JATSO. “Your input is vital to building a safer, more efficient transportation future for our region.”

JATSO is the transportation planning agency for the Joplin metropolitan area, as designated by the federal government, and its goal is to provide for regional mobility. The MTP must be updated every five years and focuses on enhancing regional road safety, improving traffic flow, and supporting sustainable transportation options.

This public notice, public involvement activities, and time established for public review and comments on the TIP will satisfy the FTA Section 5307 Program of Projects requirements for the Metro Area Public Transit System (MAPS).

About JATSO:

JATSO is the designated Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) for the Joplin region. Federal legislation requires an MPO for any urbanized area with a population of over 50,000. MPOs ensure that existing and future transportation projects and program expenditures are based on a continuing, cooperative, and comprehensive planning process.
