Joplin WIC Office and Chi Chi Mama’s Breastfeeding Support Group will participate in the World Breastfeeding Week celebration on Saturday, August 2. The event will be held from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm in the Community Room of the Joplin Public Library, 1901 East 20th Street in Joplin, and is open to everyone in the community, including breastfeeding mothers and anyone who wants to support breastfeeding mothers.
This event offers something for the whole family. Numerous groups will have displays and information to share with attendees. Learn more about community health resources in the area including:
- Environmental, Health and Safety
- Joplin Parents As Teachers (PAT)
- Joplin Health Department
- WIC (Women, Infant and Children)
Refreshments and door prizes are included in the event. Sponsors for the celebration are United Health Care, Home State Health, Healthy Blue, and Breastfeeding Coalition of Southwest Missouri.
The event theme is Prioritize Breastfeeding — Create Sustainable Support Systems, as announced by the World Alliance for Breastfeeding Action (WABA). WABA is a global network of individuals and organizations concerned with protecting, promoting, and supporting breastfeeding worldwide.
