FosterAdopt Connect is excited to welcome ShyAnna Bobacher as their new Community Connections YouThrive Specialist in Joplin! She began working for FosterAdpot Connect in April of 2025.
The YouThrive program is new to Joplin and helps current and former foster youth between the ages of 17 and 26 as they navigate the struggles of approaching adulthood without a solid support system. As a foster care alumni, ShyAnna will offer a unique perspective on how to transition from foster care to self-sufficiency as she’s made the leap herself. She will also connect youth to resources in several areas, including housing, higher education, employment, health care, finances, social supports, transportation, legal advocacy, and more. The goal of this program is to see young adults find stable housing, secure employment, and develop the necessary skills to thrive in adulthood.
ShyAnna decided to work in the human and social services industry when she was put into foster care at a young age. She completed her Bachelor’s Degree in Human and Social Services in August of 2024 at the University of Ottawa while working two jobs and being a single mom. Her social workers inspired her to give others what they gave to her. She’s committed to advocating for others, creating meaningful change, and offering support where it’s needed most.
