Joplin Schools is launching a crucial initiative to shape the future of their students through their Portrait of a Graduate focus group. There are two upcoming sessions for the focus group and Joplin Schools invites the community to join them for one or both of the events.
The two events will be held on Wednesday, November 20 from 4:30 to 6:30 pm at the Joplin High School cafeteria and on Friday, November 22 from 9:00 to 11:00 am in the Joplin High School Blackbox Theater.
The school district would like to reach a district-wide goal of 200 participants by the end of these two sessions and are seeking diverse voices from:
- Students
- Parents
- Teachers and staff
- Business partners
- Faith-based organizations
- Community members
The evening session on Wednesday may be more convenient for students, teachers, and working parents while the Friday morning session might better accommodate business and community partners. Having both ranges of perspectives is vital to creating a meaningful Portrait of a Graduate that truly reflects the community’s aspirations for Joplin students.
