United Nations 2023 Constructive Dialogue on Trafficking
Rapha International was one of five organizations to take part in the child trafficking panel at the United Nations 2023 Constructive Dialogue on Trafficking. In his presentation, Gerson Nozea, Rapha’s Haiti County Director, stressed that efforts should target issues that make communities more vulnerable to trafficking and exploitation.
Some recommendations for building community resilience are:
- Training community leaders to recognize and address vulnerability to prevent trafficking and exploitation. This year, in Haiti alone Rapha trained 1,405 community leaders in gang affected communities. Rapha staff also developed a community engagement manual to help communities build resilience and access to resources.
- Educating children about the dangers of trafficking and exploitation. During the last school year, Rapha deployed staff into schools across vulnerable communities to provide counseling, social work, and education on trafficking and exploitation for more than 1,700 students and unschooled children.
- Working with women to increase household income through business development training. This year Rapha supported more than 200 Haitian women in establishing small businesses.
Rapha is honored to be a part of these discussions. Conversations like these motivate and equip governments, NGO’s, and community leaders to help children find safety, hope, and freedom.

Celebrating 20 Years of Healing, Hope, and Freedom
2023 is the 20th year of Rapha’s work with vulnerable and victimized children. In 2003, Rapha’s first Survivor Care campus was established in Battambang, Cambodia. Since then, three more residential Survivor Care campuses, three Prevention Centers, and four community-based service centers have been established in Cambodia, Thailand, Haiti, and the United States. Over the last 20 years, thousands have been impacted by Rapha’s mission — to end the trafficking and sexual abuse of children — one child, one family, and one community at a time.
That’s 20 years of healing, 20 years of hope, and 20 years of freedom. And all of it has been made possible by the generosity and faithfulness of Rapha’s partners. Learn more about this milestone here.
