(Joplin, MO) – The Creative Learning Alliance is your home for Solar Eclipse 2024!
The Creative Learning Alliance is already preparing for next year’s total solar eclipse, which will take place on April 8, 2024. The last time the United States experienced a total solar eclipse was in 2017. While outside the Northern edge of totality, those in the Joplin region will still experience 95.5% magnitude at the eclipse’s maximum. Executive Director Neely Myers says, “Of course we’ll be watching the stream of the 2023 eclipse here in just a couple of days on April 20, but watching it in person in 2024 is going to be even better!”
In Joplin, the 2024 eclipse will start at 12:34 pm, reach maximum eclipse at 1:52 pm, and end at 3:10 pm. Visitors to the science center will learn the safest ways of viewing the sun and solar eclipses using shadows. Myers added, “For the April 2024 eclipse, we’ll have a full week of countdown and eclipse activities so mark your calendars. We’ll have glasses, a viewing party, and LOTS of information and fun. Make sure to follow us on social media @creativelearningalliance and check our website, creativelearningalliance.org. As the year goes on, we’ll have more information. We’re thrilled to be the local home for eclipse information!”
