(Joplin, MO) – After nearly 14 years of service with the City of Joplin, City Clerk Barb Gollhofer will retire, leaving the position to Holly Nagy who was recently hired for the position.
Gollhofer joined the City as the Assistant City Clerk in March 2008. In 2018, she was promoted to City Clerk upon Barbara Hogelin’s retirement. During Gollhofer’s tenure, she has been active with the Southwest Missouri City Clerks and Finance Officers group and served in numerous officer positions, including president. She received her Missouri Registered City Clerk (MRCC) certification in 2012 and Missouri Professional City Clerk (MPCC) certification in 2021. At the City, Gollhofer was active with various employee groups and enjoyed her work for the Council and with the public.
“It’s been an honor to serve in this position for our City Council,” she said. “I’ve had the pleasure of learning more about our city, working alongside City leaders and members of the City’s management team. I’ve learned a lot and made some great friends here. This has been a wonderful place, and I wish everyone the best.”
Gollhofer and her husband, Larry, plan to travel in their retirement and will have more time to enjoy their family. She will retire on February 4, 2022.
Nagy is a Texas Registered Municipal Clerk and attended Wayland Baptist University in San Antonio, Texas. She is well-versed in numerous software programs and technologies and assisted with Hutton’s web designs, management, software implementation and closed captioning services.
She started at the City of Joplin on December 27, 2021 working alongside Gollhofer as they reviewed various policies and the Joplin Charter. “I am happy to be in Joplin, and I am excited to continue the high level of service this office has been known for,” she said.
She and her husband, Steve, have four children. She is originally from north central Missouri.
