The Schroeder Family Exploreum and Missouri Destination Imagination Partner to Bring Creative Problem-Solving to Area Students

(Joplin, MO) – A new opportunity is coming to students across the Joplin region this fall, and it’s designed to put kids in the driver’s seat.

The Schroeder Family Exploreum and Missouri Destination Imagination are teaming up to launch two Destination Imagination teams at the Exploreum: one for elementary students and one for middle school students. Students from any area school, including homeschool, are welcome to participate.

Destination Imagination (DI) challenges students to tackle open-ended problems, dream up their own solutions and bring those ideas to life, without adults solving the problem for them. Along the way, students develop creativity, collaboration, communication and real-world problem-solving skills. The Exploreum will complement the DI season with hands-on, skill-building workshops designed to help students test ideas, build skills and turn creative concepts into action.

“This is an exciting opportunity to bring students from across the Joplin region together to create, collaborate and solve problems in a completely different way,” says Neely Myers, Executive Director of the Schroeder Family Exploreum. “The Exploreum is thrilled to offer this unique learning experience beyond our typical programming.”

The partnership brings together two organizations with a shared belief: kids learn best when they’re given the freedom to explore, experiment and figure things out for themselves.

Families interested in participating are invited to an informational meeting Saturday, September 26, at 1:00 pm at the Exploreum (300 S. Main Street). Representatives from both the Exploreum and Missouri Destination Imagination will be available to answer questions and explain what families can expect throughout the season.

Students don’t have to attend the same school to be on the same team. This new program gives young people across the region a chance to learn, create and compete together, no matter where they go to school.

Please RSVP for the informational meeting here.
