July 2 Pint for a Pint Event Highlights the Need for Blood Before Independence Day Holiday

(Joplin, Mo. ) – The Community Blood Center of the Ozarks (CBCO), the sole supplier of blood, platelets, and plasma to more than 40 area hospitals, is encouraging donors to give blood this summer and help meet the ongoing need for lifesaving blood.

Throughout July and August, donors who give blood at any CBCO donor center or mobile blood drive will receive:

  • Premium velour beach towel
  • Donors can enter to win a $10,000 dream vacation giveaway

As the country celebrates its 250th birthday, CBCO is kicking off their summer campaign by showing special appreciation for lifesaving blood donors. CBCO will host its annual Pint for a Pint blood drive on Thursday, July 2, at all four donor centers in Springfield, Joplin, Bentonville, and Springdale. In addition to the July and August donor perks, those who donate on July 2 will receive:

“Summer can be one of the most challenging times for the blood supply as school breaks, vacations and busy schedules often lead to fewer donations,” said Michelle Teter, Media Relations Representative for Community Blood Center of the Ozarks. “While at the same time, hospitals tend to use more blood in the summer as they see a spike in traumatic injuries. Donating now helps ensure blood is available when it is needed and gives donors a meaningful way to make a lifesaving difference for their neighbors.”

Appointments are strongly encouraged to help avoid wait times. Donors can schedule an appointment at www.cbco.org or by calling 417.227.5006.
