(Springfield, Mo) – After more than 50 years of helping Ozarks families build stronger financial futures, Consumer Credit Counseling Service is beginning its next chapter under a new name: Cambridge Credit Counseling of the Heartland. The Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce will host a ribbon cutting ceremony to mark the occasion on Monday, June 29 at 4:00 pm at the agency’s office, located at 1515 S. Glenstone Ave.
Guests will enjoy refreshments and hors d’oeuvres, and attendees can enter to win a $100 gift card to a local fine dining restaurant. The event is open to the public, and community members, business leaders, and longtime clients alike are encouraged to attend.
Same Heartland Service, New Name
While the name is new, the people and the mission are not. The same local counselors will continue serving clients from the same Glenstone location, offering the services the community has come to rely on—including credit report reviews, debt management plans, bankruptcy counseling, student loan counseling, and housing counseling.
Every counselor is certified through the National Foundation for Credit Counseling, and the agency remains a local nonprofit guided by its longstanding mission: to improve economic security through financial education and coaching.
“For more than 50 years, families across the Ozarks have trusted us with some of the most personal conversations they’ll ever have—conversations about money, stress, and hope for something better. That trust doesn’t change with our name. The same counselors will be in the same office, providing the same Heartland service this community has counted on for decades,” Holly Wilson, Heartland Director of Community and Business Development.
A Resource for Local Businesses, Too
The ribbon cutting is also an opportunity for area employers to discover how Cambridge Credit Counseling of the Heartland can support their teams. Financial stress has become a workplace issue as much as a personal one—national research shows the majority of U.S. employees feel stressed about their finances, and financially stressed workers are significantly more likely to miss work, struggle with daily tasks, and seek employment elsewhere. The agency partners with businesses on financial wellness initiatives, from confidential counseling access to workshops on budgeting, student loans, homebuying readiness, and more.
“Financial stress doesn’t stay home when employees come to work. Local businesses are recognizing that supporting their teams’ financial wellbeing is good for people and good for the bottom line, and we’re excited to show Springfield employers what a partnership can look like,” said Christopher Viale, Cambridge Credit Counseling CEO
