Joplin Public Library (JPL)is excited to present their annual all-ages Summer Reading Program from May 26 through July 19, with the theme “Unearth A Story.” Those who participate will be exploring all things dinosaurs, fossils, and little-known stories!
Summer Reading is a free program designed to keep the public of all ages reading, learning, and creating this summer. Participants are invited to track their reading and complete fun activities to earn prizes!
No Library card is required to participate in the Summer Reading Program; however, for the sixth year, the Joplin Public Library is extending the offer of a free Summer Reading Library card to everyone! No matter your age, or where you live, everyone is eligible for a free JPL card to be used for the duration of Summer Reading. This allows participants to check out physical items from the Library including books, DVDs, and more. The card can also be used to access our digital resources. As always, Joplin Public Library cards are always free for in-city residents of Joplin, simply bring a recent piece of mail and your photo ID to the Library to register.
Another aspect of the Summer Reading Program is fun, educational, and theme-based Library-hosted events. Summer events include many of the Library’s regular programs, and a variety of special events for children, teens, and adults. Find the comprehensive calendar of
activities here.
Registration for the Summer Reading Program begins in the Library on Tuesday, May 26, and goes throughout the months of June and July, ending on July 19. Sign-up anytime within those dates to start the fun!
