(Joplin, MO) – Bright Futures Joplin is proud to announce that longtime volunteer John “Chip” Boyd has been named a recipient of the prestigious Show Me Service Award, earning the distinction of Adult Volunteer of the Year for Southern Missouri.
Boyd’s years of dedicated service to Bright Futures Joplin and Jefferson Elementary have made a meaningful and lasting impact on students, staff, and families throughout the community. A consistent and dependable presence, he mentors students, supports school initiatives, and steps in wherever there is a need, always going above and beyond to ensure young people have the resources, encouragement, and opportunities they deserve.
In addition to his work within Joplin Schools, Boyd serves as Executive Pastor at Journey Church and Director of Abide Missions. Through his leadership, he mobilizes dozens of teenagers each summer to participate in service projects that support local nonprofit organizations, helping instill a lifelong commitment to service in the next generation.
“John exemplifies what it means to serve others with compassion and purpose,” said Amanda Stone, Bright Futures Joplin Executive Director. “His impact can be seen not only in the lives of the students he supports directly, but in the ripple effect of service he inspires across our entire community.”
Boyd was honored at an awards ceremony in Jefferson City, where recipients from across the state were recognized for their outstanding volunteerism and commitment to strengthening Missouri communities.
