Joplin Schools‘ JETHD students took home 19 different awards at the 2026 Missouri Southern State University Media Showcase!
This annual competition gathers hundreds of high-school students from across the region to compete in competitions such as graphic design, video and audio production, and journalism. Featuring guest speakers from related industries, students have the opportunity to learn more about being professionals in marketing, media, journalism, broadcasting and more while competing for prizes.
This year’s winners from Joplin Schools included:
- Lyberti Wright and Jaxyn Horn (1st place in Broadcast Anchors)
- Joseph Dale (1st place in Feature with “Franklin Photos”)
- Amy Amidon, Joseph Dale, and Skyler Ferrell (1st place in Video PSA with “Suicide Prevention”)
- Amy Amidon and Joseph Dale (1st Place in Visual Effects for “Wrestling Hype Video”)
- Garrett Camp, Dennis Bateman, Jonas Nicholson, and Henry Meeker (1st place in Drama for “Murder on the Fly”)
- Teddy Miller (2nd place in Drama for “Storm Anxiety”)
- Lyberti Wright (3rd place in Drama for “I Miss You”)
- Franklin Technical Center’s Film Class (1st place in Horror for “A Crimson Christmas”)
- Garrett Camp (1st place in Comedy for “Baby Laughing”)
- Skyler Ferrell (2nd place in Comedy for “The Recorder”)
- Amy Amidon (3rd place in News Packages for “New JHS Drop Off”)
- Zane Tabia (3rd place in Sports Packages for “Cardinal Caravan”
- Henry Meeker and Skyler Ferrell (3rd place in Video Commercial for “Great Reckoning of JETHD”)
- Amy Amidon (3rd place in Photoshop Battle for “Nemo Wonder”)
- Gwenna Goodwin (2nd place in Podcasts for “Ghost”)
- Calie Robertson (3rd place in Podcasts for “Guilty or Innocent”)
- Franklin Technical Center’s Audio Engineering Class (2nd place in Music Production for “Hybrid Moment”)
- Gabe Talbott and Tayegan Goodfellow (3rd place in Music Videos for “Big Red”)
- Henry Meeker, Skyler Ferrell, Garrett Camp, and Finley Larson (Honorable mention in Music Videos for “Buddy Holly”)
