The Missouri Southern State University (MSSU) Lion Co-op will host its annual Empty Bowls fundraiser from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm on Wednesday, April 8 at the Ron Richard Athletic Center on the MSSU campus.
The event will raise funds for the Groceries to Graduate scholarship program, which helps MSSU students access local, nutritious food. Developed in partnership with the Webb City Farmers Market, the scholarship provides recipients with $200 in tokens during the fall or spring semester that can be redeemed for groceries at the Webb City Farmers Market or the Joplin Empire Market.
Attendees will receive a handcrafted bowl along with soup, bread, and dessert, all of which are donated by local restaurants. The bowls are created by the members of the MSSU Clay Club and the university’s Department of Art and Design. MSSU Fresh Ideas is a sponsor of the event.
Tickets are $25 and include the first bowl and meal. Additional bowls are available for $15 and student tickets are $15.
The MSSU Lion Co-op provides resources and support to help ensure students have access to food and other basic necessities while pursuing their education.
